This is part 1 several posts throughout the day recapping Buffalo Fashion Week…
Below the wife and I have compiled our favorites from last night’s Grand Finale of Buffalo Fashion Week. Featuring several local and NYC designers as well as celebrity designer Alexis Bellino from Orange County, the entire evening was a magical, fashion-filled event.
Local retailers Vania&David were first to show and their collection was a wonderful way to kick off the event. Great bags perfect for every season and I love how the models were draped in the their scraves. Very chic, very romantic.
Up next to my delight was Me & My Wife (M&MW), a new menswear shop that recently opened in Allentown featuring everything from street wear to business suits. I really like alot of the collection, and it was fantastic to see a designer exclusively featuring menswear (perhaps this whole Buffalo Dandy thing is starting to catch on). The only complaint in the line is that the garments didn’t fit all of models as well as they should have and I would look into creating some slimmer cuts for your suits/pants. Other than that, a personal favorite for obvious reasons.
Up next was the celebrity designer from The Real Housewives of Orange County, Alexis Bellino. I had the pleasure of speaking with Alexis before the show and she was extremely nice and had nothing but fantastic things to say about Buffalo and the show itself. Full of super bright neons and form fitting silhouettes, this was certainly one of the sexier lines.
Up next was crowd favorite and Buffalo native, Jimmy Lee. I really liked Jimmy’s collection this year. I thought everything had an extremely elegant look to it and the dresses flowed down the runway with ease. Plus JimmyLee is comprised of the two nicest guys you will ever meet. A fantastic show met with a roaring standing ovation from the crowd.
After the show concluded we made our way over to the Grand Ballroom for a VIP Fashion Show featuring four NYC Designers. First up with Prajje, (who is quite the Dandy himself) who featured several beautiful creations inspired by Prajje’s native Hati.
Up next was another one of my personal favorites, Dowry Designs. To me this was one of the more complete collections that showed numerous things at once and still managed to have a very cohesive look. I loved the jackets, the layering, the color palette… it was really just a perfect collection to showcase heading into Fall.
Next was designer Gwen Beloti who had several wonderfully tropical inspired pieces. Lots of bright neon colors paired tastefully with muted accents, the whole collection had a nice solid feel to it.
Lastly was Elena V Designs who had a fantastic collection to round out the show. Very playful designs, with an a fantasy-type feel to everything. It almost looked like Alice in Wonderland mixed with a splash of Blade Runner.
Be sure to keep check back throughout the day for more posts and updates about the show.
