With Fall now in full swing here in Buffalo, it’s time to start layering up and adding some new bottoms to your wardrobe. In the workplace, few companies are as ubiquitous as Dockers. Often times associated with a negative connotation, Dockers has actually done a fantastic job of keeping current with trends, and reinventing themselves as staple brand in menswear. I recently reached out to the fine folks at Dockers to see if they would allow me to give some of their latest pants a Dandy Test Drive for Fall. I was pleasantly surprised to receive several of their latest styles in the mail shortly there after. The 3 styles I’ll be reviewing here are the The Broken-In Khaki, The City Khaki and The Signature Khaki.
The first pair I was most eager to try was The Broken-In Khaki which quickly became one of my favorite pants to wear in both “Wild Fern” and “Icelandic Blue”. Neither overly slim, nor loose in fit, the Broken-In Khaki lifts the lower rise and fitted seat and thigh of their newest, most modern fits (the Alpha Khaki for one) and combines them with a true, straight leg silhouette. The result is a fresh-looking, clean shape that is looks totally new. Cut from a sturdy, durable, 100% cotton twill cloth, the Broken-In Khaki is dyed with a unique double dye process, giving the pant a soft, vintage look and feel. Perfect for the Dandy who’s looking for a modern khaki style with a nod to heritage and authentic design, the Broken-In Khaki is available in a variety of colors.
Like I said, these were an instant favorite of mine because of their versatility and just how comfortable they were. The cut is fantastic, perfect for whatever Fall Weekend activities you can dream up from Pumpkin picking, lounging on the couch watching the Bills lose, or heading out to dinner with friends. They fit pretty true to size, and can easily dressed up or down depending on the top you choose.
Next was one of Dockers latest creations, The City Khaki in Grey Pinstripe. A slim and trim fitting khaki, the City Khaki is versatile enough to take the wearer from 9am to 9pm . . . and beyond. Featuring a sharp permanent crease, the pant’s clean lines offer a nice polish, suitable for the office; but it’s modern effect make it a great option for after-hour cocktails and entertaining as well. Long and lean, this style is cut from 100% cotton and features rear welt pockets and a hook and eye closure detail at the front waist. Currently offered in black, khaki and a grey striped pattern.
This style did seem to run a little large in the grey striped pattern option, so a size down might be something to consider here. But as with the Broken-In Khaki, the comfort level of these pants were off the chart. A perfect pant for a crisp Fall morning heading into work that can be paired with pretty much anything.
Lastly, another favorite is a Docker’s staple: The Signature Khaki in Black Pinstripe. The name says it all. This is the iconic, signature khaki of the Dockers Brand. In the D1 silhouette, the Signature Khaki is slim in fit and features a flat front, along with a sharp, clean permanently pressed crease. A relied-upon, “go-to” pant because of its versatile nature and streamlined aesthetic, the Signature Khaki is also wrinkle resistant and offered in a range of colors, stripes and patterns. Further, it is cut from a richer, more tightly-woven 100% cotton fabric. This is a great pant to dress-up any occasion, the only trouble I had was wanting to pair a jacket with them, but couldn’t bring myself to mix patterns/colors. So offering a blazer in one of their patterned materials wouldn’t be a bad idea… Just a suggestion.
I would like to thank Dockers for being so extremely generous and allowing me to give some of their latest products a Dandy Test Drive. I highly recommend any of the above styles not only because they are great pants at a reasonable price, but because they offer such a wide variety of styles to fit any Dandies wardrobe.
