Starbucks has recently launched a new program called Let’s Create Jobs for USA. Pairing up with Opportunity Finance Network (OFN) which is a group of community lending institutions that work with local businesses, the goal of the program is for Americans to help Americans create and sustain jobs.

Donation stations are set up at all 7,000+ Starbucks locations nationwide, and with every $5 or more donation you make, you receive a specially designed Indivisible wristband. That $5 goes directly to the OFN, which it then adds it a balance sheet that provides $3o of additional financing to support community businesses. So your $5 gets turned into $35! A seeded contribution of $5,000,000 has already been made by the Starbucks Foundation, and for every $3,00o raised, one new job is created or sustained.

I have to admit, it’s nice to see a mega-corporation like Starbucks creating a program aimed at helping local businesses (even if I’m sure they’re responsible to putting several of them out of business). But at the very least, you get a handsome bracelet for doing your good deed for the day.
