A great link from Selectism.com about the traveling photography exhibit
“BB Forever: Brigitte Bardot, The Legend”
and the accompanying interview with Brigitte herself in next months Vanity Fair.

Vanity Fair takes a look at some stunning photographs of “The Temptress of St. Tropez,” Brigitte Bardot that accompanies their interview with the 77-year old star for their March 2012 issue. Many of the photography in the gallery will tour the United States as part of the ”BB Forever: Brigitte Bardot, the Legend” exhibition appearing at Sofitel hotels in Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington, and New York.

The rare visit to the star’s home by the show’s curator, Henry-Jean Servat, is a great read and is available online. Bardot who lives in St. Tropez removed herself from the spotlight and public in the early 70s. Well worth a read.

The article kind of got me in the mood for more BB, so tonight I think a little pre-birthday celebration is in order with a selection from the Brigitte Bardot Box Set and a lovely bottle of Barton & Guestier Côtes du Rhône. How much more French can you get? Mon Dieu!

Collar Extender

I found these at the store today and thought they were a great idea. We all have those shirts that have unfortunately shrunken just a little too much in the wash. These handy little collar extenders add up to a half inch to your collar and are surprising comfortable and barely noticeable. Available at places like Macy’s, Men’s Warehouse and other fine establishments.

As the man Michael Scott once said: “…I love Burlington Coat Factory. You go in there with $645, you are literally a king.” Apparently this is true because I stopped in there on a whim and found this Ralph Lauren Double-Breasted Suit for $150. I’m not saying I need this suit, but at that price, I kind of need this suit. Maybe if I hear some good news this week I’ll pick it up for a job well done/early birthday present.

Beatles Bow Tie

The wife and I are going to see Rain, the Beatles Broadway tribute musical this evening with the in-laws at Shea’s. If only I had this vintage Beatles Bow Tie to wear to the show I would be all set. That being said, this article made my guitar gently weep a little…

As the old adage says, “You only get one first impression”. They also say “dress for the job you want, not the one you have.” When dressing for an interview, I think it’s important to keep both of these ideas in mind. I’ve provided four examples above of some interview outfits. Starting with a more corporate look and gradually getting more casual.

While it’s important to dress well, you want to make sure you don’t over dress, which can sometimes have a negative impact on your interview. If possible, you should get of an idea of the company atmosphere beforehand. Are they super corporate? Ultra casual and laid back? These are things that should influence your decision on what to wear. If you do wear a suit, make sure it fits. Make sure your shoes are freshly polished, keep the jewelery to a minimum, and get any facial hair under control. I enjoy wearing ties, but if you go the open collar route, be sure to wear a v-neck tee underneath. Nothing kills that look more than seeing a t-shirt peaking over the top, but also the undershirt will keep the perspiration under control during the interview. Above all, you want to make sure you are representing yourself well, but are also comfortable.
