So the Kentucky Derby has come and gone and there will certainly be posts about who was best dressed and this and that, but one of my favorite things about the Derby is my drink of choice: The Mint Julep. Woodford Reserve just happens to be the official Bourbon of the Kentucky Derby, so in celebration, I picked up a commemorative bottle illustrated by Michael Schwab. This was one of my first higher price point Bourbons and I think I may have been converted to the dark side. Clearly setting itself apart from the Jim Beams and Maker Marks of the world (which I’m huge fans of), Woodford Reserve is a much stronger Bourbon, but with a smoother finish. It almost forces you to slow down and enjoy your drink more, which I love. I look forward to this bottle lasting me well into the Summer with many a Mint Julep. Check out more on the commemorative Kentucky Derby bottle below.
