Greetings, Interwebs. Buffalo Dandy’s alter-ego “Brock” here letting you know that time is running out to donate to my Movember Page. The mustache I have grown this year is pure and true, like the love of a fine scotch or the smell of a campfire on a Winter’s Eve. Thank you to everyone who has donated, and if you haven’t, please head over to my page before the days end and donate whatever you can. After that I shall vanish into the darkness for yet another year, eagerly plotting my return…

Hickoree’s has quickly become one of my favorite new sites. The Brooklyn-based store offers several amazing heritage inspired brands, with items ranging from clothing, accessories, stationary and even home goods. One of my favorite pieces on the site is this great Herringbone Gingham Check Bow Tie from The Hill-side (who subsequently have a fantastic how-to video on their site). Made in the USA with fabric from Japan, this is basically everything I’m looking for a in a bow tie right now.

I’m not sure if it’s the unique twisted hood, the subtle faded coloring, or the random French phrases that makes me want this Scotch & Soda Hooded Sweater so bad (could be all of the above), but I NEED this! Heavy washed with a longer fit, I’ve been seeing more and more of these high collar sweaters lately. I think they offer a great update to the tried and true hoodie silhouette. Not as formal as a shawl collar, but just as useful on a brisk day to keep the wind off your neck.

Julie is Her Name…

I came across this fantastic Julie London album cover whilst happening upon A Treasury of…, a fine gentlemen’s blog based out of Minneapolis. I must say, I too was quite captivated by the cover art and proceeded to check out the album on Spotify which I’ve embedded below for your listening pleasure. It’s a wonderfully sultry record to ease into your hump day with and not to worry, I’ve even located some vinyl options online here to add to your collection. I know I would want one for Christmas. Hint Hint.

If you’re looking for a stellar deal for Cyber Monday and also have a Star Wars fan on your shopping list, the latest Star Wars Jackets from Marc Ecko are perfect. Right now, everything on the website is 50% off, making this one of the sweeter deals for Cyber Monday. Click the link to check out more of the collection, but these two are my favorite. I already own the Storm Trooper one and must say, the construction and attention to detail on these pieces are second to none.

Between Black Friday and Cyber Monday is a new day
dedicated to supporting small businesses nationwide called Small Business Saturday. While many of us will be headed to the mall or avoiding the crowds all together by shopping online during Cyber Monday, it is important to remember that local small businesses are the lifeblood of a community. So on Saturday, I’ve selected a few items from local businesses worth checking out.

  • Riverside Mens’ Shop has a fantastic deal on Harris Tweed Sportcoats for just $375 and Buffalo Nickel Cufflinks for $60.
  • The Squire Shop have these great Buffalo Suspenders for $50
  • Lastly O’Connell’s Scottish Shetland Wool Sweater for $165 are perfect for Winter and their Smathers & Branson Credit Card Wallet for $55 is sure to get a few nods when pulling out that platinum card to pay for all this stuff.

It’s pretty warm out today for late November, but that just means I get to keep wearing my Fossil Wallace Vest a little longer. I love the vintage look of the quilting and giant ribbed collar. The fit is great and it’s actually incredibly warm. Paired with some plaid, herringbone bow tie and the ever manly Movember ‘Stache, this laid-back look has been a favorite of mine for Fall.

It’s a fairly well known fact that Buffalo Dandy has a slight obsession with Marilyn Monroe. Over the years I’ve been gifted some wonderful Marilyn-themed items like posters, books and even the re-released first issue of Playboy. There may need to be yet another addition to the collection as Playboy is planning to release The Nude Marilyn Issue this December. On the 50th anniversary of her untimely death Playboy is showcasing, for the first time, their vast collection of Marilyn photos starting from the beginning to the almost final days of her life.

The Eldredge Knot

For anyone who happened to read my post about Project: Vegas, you may recall this photo I took of a fantastically knotted tie. Apparently it’s known as an Eldredge Knot, which I learned after happening upon a Tumblr post by This Fellow showcasing the knot and his exceptionally Dandy outfit. Check out the instructional video below (or photos here) and attempt this mesmerizing knot yourself.
