A joyous occasion that should never be missed in Buffalo is the Annual Seersucker Ride hosted by the Buffalo Lazy Randonneur Club! Join riders dressed in their Seersuckiest (?) on Sunday, June 22nd at Canalside for the most festive bicycle ride of the Summer. Beginning at the crack of noon, participants will take a jaunty ride through the city and along Buffalo’s waterfront before concluding in Delaware Park. Sadly the Wife, Dandy Jr. and I won’t be able to attend this year, which is a major bummer, but I cannot stress enough how much you’ll want to attend this event if you can.

We began the tradition of seasonal rides just to have fun riding bicycles as a group. The success of this simple plan brings us to our fifth year of silliness. We plan on continuing with this as our goal ignoring the athleticism, activism and environmentalism often associated with organized riding. The child plays because he plays. If any good comes of that; well, that’s just fine too.

To participate just show up with an operable bicycle and you are good to go. You will feel more involved if you wear something indicative of the season, especially Seersucker for extra kicks. We will as always ride a slow and safe route along our Buffalo bike paths plying our way toward Delaware Park for a champagne picnic. Make any provisions you like for a memorable picnic just up the hill from Hoyt Lake. I will again bring along Petanque as our customary lawn game for anyone who wants to play. It is at once adequately silly and pomp.

We expect participants to be responsible for own personal safety and belongings. Please have your bicycle ready to go and follow all recommended safe riding advice and regulations. Invite your friends too, See you there.
